Beautiful Technicolor photography, a great cast, Judy Garland still young and beautiful and a wonderful score. The "Trolley Song" is great, but Garland singing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" softly is the most tear-jerking sequence ever filmed- don't worry- everything ends happy. Yeah, there are HUGE gaps in plot and logic (Garland falls in love with "The Boy Next Door" who is so boring and a marriage proposal comes out of nowhere at the end) but it's a MGM musical! You've got to expect those! Don't rent it BUY IT. Well worth seeing.

Oh, how I love this beautiful, musical movie. The attention to detail is amazing. The costumes, the homes, the furniture, the characters, the streets, the turn-of-the-century atmosphere- just wonderful! The story is quite sweet and there isn't an unpleasant moment to be found.
A very young and fresh Judy Garland is perfect in every way. The rest of the cast of Hollywood pros are terrific also. Several classic songs highlight this great American film, and I highly recommend it.

 

Here in October 2019 to say one word about her voice. Effortless. These sequences must have taken HOURS to practice and perfect. @Maddiecat1442 omg wut happened after tht. THE FATHER MUST HAVE BEEN HAVING A HARD DAY. What i liked best, no tats. OF COURSE BOTH VOICES OF THE PARENTS WAS MOST PEOPLE DON'T MALE VOICE IS NONE OTHER THEN THAT GREAT PRODUCER OF MGM MUSICALS, ALFRED FREED. I've always adored Marjorie Main in all these classic films. One of the great films. Makes one feel good to watch.
